Book covers - General (ASoIaF) - A Forum of Ice and Fire - A Song of Ice and Fire & Game of Thrones

Guaranteed those are not stickers, Adam. Clearly marketing towards the more general reader here, so it isn't surprising to not see ASoS and ADwD combined into their respective wholes. Most casual or non-genre readers are at least to the mind of marketing departments intimidated by novels of that size. I would assume that the pictures are not neccessarily meant to be indicative of their repective books, but rather illustrate the wide variety of landscapes and the vast scope of the series as a whole. Excellent covers for National Geographic

The cover of one of the volumes features a raven perched atop the corpse of a mother direwolf, the one fatally gored by a stag in Winterfell but whose pups would grow up to become the direwolves of the Stark family. The other cover shows a lion, the sigil of House Lannister, attacking a stag, the sigil of House Baratheon. These new covers — accompanied by eight illustrated chapter openers, nine illustrated house sigils, and nine family trees — were illustrated by France-based artist Jonathan Burton, a regular collaborator with Folio who previously designed special edition covers for Cover Her Face , by P. Fantasy author Joe Abercrombie also wrote an introduction for this release of A Game of Thrones , though Martin was involved in the release as well. I know I will. Pre-orders are available now on the Folio Society website, and those who pre-order are guaranteed to receive a copy from the first printing of the edition.

The TV Show is an American production. However, the finest cover art for the books appears on the Japanese and Brazilian translations. Go figure. The books are split up into two or three parts in Japan, which gives us more characters and book covers to enjoy. The Japanese publisher got Noriko Meguro to do the book cover art manga-style, which is beautiful and also very different to how these characters seemed to me in my mind before the show came along, and obviously differs from the actors, making it even better. Tyrion looks especially gruesome, unlike his handsome counterpart in the show, adding to the difference between book Tyrion and show Tyrion.
