For more details go to the course home page. Rhetorical analysis examines the choices a writer makes to achieve a purpose with a particular audience. The AP English Language and Composition course aligns to a college-level introductory course in rhetoric and writing. There are no prerequisite courses, but students should be able to read and comprehend college-level texts and apply the conventions of Standard Written English in their writing. But, lists of authors whose writing reflects the range and quality appropriate for the course are available in the AP English Language and Composition Course Description. These lists are only a guide; feel free to use other works of your choice.
